Construction began with the first steel cut for the lead ship in the class in September 2018, while completion is scheduled for November 2020. The Royal Fleet Auxiliary is a naval auxiliary fleet owned by the UK's Ministry of Defence and is the fifth fighting arm of the Royal Navy. It provides vital logistical and operational support to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
